Kerry Kuhn

Kerry Kuhn is an accomplished young clinician who has a strong devotion to helping horses and riders be successful in their horsemanship goals. His philosophy, rightly termed Practical Horsemanship, is designed to teach riders how to better understand their horse’s instincts and motivations and then use this information to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for both horse and human. With this approach, Kerry’s techniques help riders set themselves up for success whether they are riding down the trail, working on the ranch or participating in a timed event at a rodeo.

Kerry has had a respect and admiration for horses his entire life. His grandfather, and childhood mentor, Dale Lukens, recognized Kerry’s talent for training early on and encouraged him to pursue equine activities. After a successful stint participating in High School and College Rodeo as a youth and several part time jobs working with horses on local ranches around his home in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Kerry devoted himself to better horsemanship. After graduation, Kerry worked briefly in the thoroughbred industry before committing himself to his own full time training and horsemanship education operation. Since 1998, Kerry has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of horses and riders through his Practical Horsemanship program. His training credits include starting numerous rope horses that have gone on to compete successfully in the USTRC, rodeo events, and in the show arena. He has also helped hundreds of ranch, family and trail horses get a solid start and has helped many, many more overcome training obstacles.

Kerry has presented at EquiFest of Kansas and Horse Fest and is presently doing clinics nation wide. Kerry’s ambition to help horses and riders is second only to his family life. He and wife, Misti, have a son, Kauy. They are both active in their community and the equine industry through the Practical Horsemanship program.

Kerry is currently on tour with "Best of America by Horseback" and will be aired on RFD-TV in the coming months.
