Geff Dawson
Geff Dawson is a cowboy poet who was born and raised in Abilene, Kansas.
Geff has always been involved in rodeo and ranch life. He’s been a saddle bronc rider, bull rider and calf roper
and worked as day help for ranches in the Kansas Flint Hills for the past 20 years with most of his ranch work
being done on a 10,000 acre ranch with a 1,000 cow/calf operation. Geff and his wife, Dawn own a horse ranch in
Wabaunsee County, Kansas. From shoeing horses to making exceptional ranch horses, Geff has an all-around knowledge
of the true cowboy life.
In 2003, Geff began writing cowboy poetry about his true-life experiences from working on the cattle ranches in the
area. He feels truly blessed that these tales of the Kansas ranch life were given to him as a blessing and he will
astonish and astound you when you hear his very funny as well as his quite serious poetry.
Geff was honored with the 2006 Best of the Best Award at the world's only Western Legends Roundup Cowboy Poetry Rodeo
in 2006, in Kanab, Utah. Competing against 70 plus other contestants, he was thrilled with his win in Kanab. He
followed it with a trip to the Colorado State Fair Cowboy Poetry competition where he won the "People's Choice Buckle"
and the "Reserve Champion Buckle" in the judged portion of the event.
